What this site is

LitigationScope is a free index of U.S. immigration public records — detention facilities, immigration courts and judges, county-level case aggregates, and federal civil court filings. This policy covers the LitigationScope website itself, not the government agencies or courts whose public records it indexes.

Data this site processes

We do not run analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or any third-party tracking pixels, and we do not set cookies. The site has no user accounts, no login, and does not collect names, emails, or any personal identifiers from visitors browsing the site.

The only data processed is:

• Server logs. Our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) automatically logs standard web request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, and response status — for every request, the same way any web server does. We use this only for abuse prevention, debugging, and understanding aggregate traffic (e.g., which pages are requested), never to build individual visitor profiles. These logs are retained by Cloudflare per their own retention practices and are not sold or shared with third parties.
• Search queries. Terms entered into the site's search box are sent as part of the request URL to look up matching records. They are not stored separately from ordinary server logs and are not linked to any visitor identity.
• Contact and correction submissions. If you email us (see Contact) to report an error, request a correction, or ask a question, we process whatever information you choose to send — typically your email address and the content of your message — solely to respond to and resolve that request. We keep correction correspondence only as long as needed to track the request through resolution and to have a record of what was corrected and why.

Public-record sources

The facility, court, judge, county, and filing data displayed on this site comes from public government and court records (EOIR/DOJ, ICE facility disclosures, and CourtListener/RECAP federal court data) — seeData & Methodology for exact sources. That underlying data was not collected by us from you; it was already public before we indexed it. If you believe a public record about you is inaccurate, outdated, or was expunged/sealed after the fact, see the correction process on the Contact page — we can correct or remove how we display a record, though we cannot alter the underlying government or court record itself.

Third-party links

Filing and docket pages link out to CourtListener/RECAP, and other pages may link to government sources (EOIR, ICE, USCIS). Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control and this policy doesn't cover.

Data retention

Indexed public-record data is retained and periodically refreshed from the upstream sources described in our methodology. Server logs are retained per Cloudflare's standard infrastructure practices. Contact and correction correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve the request and document the resulting correction, if any.

Security

The site is served entirely over HTTPS. We don't collect payment information, passwords, or other sensitive personal data, so there is no account-credential store to secure. Correction requests sent by email are handled the same way any other email is — please avoid sending sensitive information (like Social Security numbers or A-numbers) in a correction request; a case caption, docket number, or record URL is enough for us to locate and review the record.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

California privacy rights

Because we don't sell personal information, don't use third-party advertising trackers, and don't maintain user profiles or accounts, there is no personal-information "sale" or "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA for California residents to opt out of. If you are a California resident with a question about what limited data described above we hold in connection with a message you sent us, contact us using the method on the Contact page.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if we ever add analytics or advertising, which would be disclosed here first — we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes affecting how we handle data you've already sent us will be communicated directly where practical.
